Dresden, Germany ~ February 13-14, 1945

It is 38 minutes past midnight and I hear the planes flying overhead on their first bombing run to Dresden. How can I close my eyes in sleep recalling what human suffering we caused there?

I read in the newspaper that Dresden's Church of Our Lady has just been restored and dedicated. For 60 years it lay in ruins after British and American planes had strafed the city and practically wiped it out.
I wonder if anybody was there for the dedication representing the USA?
