Reward for Courage ~

Yesterday at 4 p.m. in Munich two teenagers, 17 and 18, were threatening and demanding money from a group of four younger teenagers travelling on a subway train. A 50-year-old Munich man intervened, trying to protect them. After the train stopped at a station the older boys attacked him and beat him to death.

I thought that kind of stuff only happened in America

Glad to hear from you, James.
Now last Thursday police stopped a High School student who entered his school in Ansbach with an axe and some Molotov cocktails. He injured 9 students, two of them, girls, very seriously before being subdued.

When I lived in Berlin (1992-1994),my husband and I accidentally got on Line 1(U-bahn)that went to the one of the stations where "neo-nazis" congregated. We were terrified. "Don't speak English" my husband whispered remembering a recent attack.
One month ago, because of auto repairs, we had to take a local train to Heilbronn from our home in Heidelberg. There were gangs of pre-teens and teens on the local train. They were frightening. We remembered the Munich story and decided not to complain to them about their smoking and skateboarding down the aisle. Germany has been getting bad for quite some time now.
